Five job title tips

Reading Time: < 1 minute

It’s more than likely that the job title you choose for your job posting will be the first thing a candidate sees when they are searching for a new job.

When you post your job on NIJobs our software will recommend job titles. These titles match candidate searches and will help you get the best out of our technology, resulting in a better response for your role.

Our search technology StepMatch is the best in the business. It powers every search, recommendation, alert, and notification on our platform.

It is built to pull in similar or matching titles, helping to increase the reach of a search and making sure your job is seen by the jobseekers most likely to apply for your jobs.

So when it’s time to post your job on NIJobs, simply start typing your job title when creating your posting, and choose one of the automatically suggested job titles.

Five job title tips

  1. Start typing and select a job title from the drop-down menu.
  2. Keep it simple. Avoid jargon, special characters, abbreviations, quirky job titles or inhouse job titles.
  3. Do not mix job titles or job levels e.g. Junior/Senior Software Developer/Engineer. It causes confusion and won’t increase your applications.
  4. Avoid adding extra information including company information, salary information or any unnecessary content in the job title. There’s space for all these important details further down in your posting.
  5. Keep your job title gender-neutral. Your goal is to attract the very best talent for your role.
