Quantity Surveyor - Northern Irish Company, £40-45k


Our Client is a leading Civil Engineering & Utilities main contractor seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their existing civil engineering team. This is a highly respected and established main contractor working within the remit of civil engineering, utilities and infrastructure in the UK and Ireland. Due to expansion and a recent rebrand, the company is now seeking to employ a Senior Quantity Surveyor with experience in roads, drainage, civil engineering, utilities, pipe-laying etc….

The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparation and management of the project to budget. The Quantity Surveyor will have a focus across a number of key sites throughout the UK and Ireland.
Job Duties:

  • Liaise with Clients, Sub-Contractors, Suppliers to ensure information; costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of each project
  • Working on large flagship projects within the civil engineering sector including Civil, Roads, Infrastructure and Utilities Projects
  • Produce breakdowns, and undertake value engineering process to meet Client budgetary requirements
  • Looking after a range of projects from social housing through to high end commercial projects
  • Providing contractual advice to the Project Manager
  • Undertake the preparation and processing of quotations, bids and tenders within Client deadlines
  • Prepare cost, value and reconciliation monthly reports on each assigned project
  • Attend internal hand-over meetings
  • Applicants will be involved in the following:
  • Cost Planning
  • Procurement & tender evaluation
  • Negotiation & preparation of contract documents
  • Valuations
  • Cost reporting
  • Final accounts
  • Contract administration

Essential Criteria:
The Quantity Surveyor will require the following

  • Hold a relevant degree, diploma or postgraduate qualification
  • Have 3 years' relevant professional experience
  • Be able to demonstrate a proven track record of:
  • Lead roles within projects, working directly with other consultants, contractors & subcontracts
  • Managing projects through to completion
  • Building sound relationships with clients & key stakeholders
  • Working with both JCT & NEC forms of Contract
  • Have exceptional communicative skills coupled with strong time management
  • Be capable of managing budgets and managing information effectively
