Quantity Surveyor, £45,000 + benefits, County Tyrone

 

Vickerstock are working alongside a company with a number of residential and commercial developments underway across the UK and Europe. In order to bring facets of the projects in-house, a Quantity Surveyor is needed to join the rapidly growing team.

Reporting directly to Senior Management the Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the cost control of Projects ranging from £500k to £8million.

The main purpose of the role is to be responsible for the cost control of Projects and to assist with the development of all opportunities to maximise revenue and reduce project costs.

Duties
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the following:

  • You will undertake a full range of pre and post contract techniques producing bills of quantities, cost planning, estimating and preparing tender documentation
  • Attain an understanding of all budgets and contractual/commercial requirements of all projects then develop and maintain a cost control model
  • Produce reports from the model which identify areas of concern and meet the needs of the finance department and the Project Manager
  • As a Quantity Surveyor ensure all areas of project management and operations are fully aware of relevant budgets and contractual/commercial requirements of projects
  • Prepare tender documents for construction works and services contracts and ensure that all contracts are properly executed and administered
  • Ensure adherence to all of the company's systems and procedures i.e. financial systems, planning systems, project control systems, material ordering and control systems and the necessary authorisation of expenditure
  • Ensure in conjunction with the Project Management team that all Variation Orders (VO) are raised, costed and valued and that the necessary variation is submitted in a timely fashion for all changes
  • Co-ordinate and undertake procurement of professional service supply and works contracts
  • Prepare tender documents for construction works and services contracts and ensure that all contracts are properly executed and administered
  • Produce Bill of quantities

Essential:
The Quantity Surveyor will require

  • Experience in contract management and administration
  • Experience in preparing tender/contract documents for construction works contract
  • Quantity surveying or other relevant Construction Management Degree
  • At least 5 year's post graduate quantity surveying experience
  • A full, valid driving license and access to your own vehicle
  • A good level of IT literacy, especially with MS Excel and Word
  • Ability to travel - England circa 2-4 days per month in order to fulfil all duties
