Mechanical Design Engineer – MDE1017                                                                         

Full Time, Permanent Position

Location: Lisburn

Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 depending on experience


Northern Ireland and India based Smiley Monroe produces ‘Endless’ conveyor belts and custom rubber parts for the materials processing equipment manufacturing sector - serving OEMs in 7 key segments: crushing, screening, recycling, washing, bulk material handling, environmental and road construction.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join a dynamic, forward thinking company and gain experience in a lean management environment as a key member of the technical team.

 

Your key responsibilities will include:-

  • ECO change control
  • Produce and interpret 2D and 3D drawings and specifications for machines and component parts
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design and performance of components
  • Prepare cost and material estimates with assistance of the costing co-ordinator, project schedules and reports
  • Liaise closely with Production staff, Sales Engineers and customers on any required revisions to drawings
  • Work in compliance with all administrative, health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with legislative requirements and company policies
  • Provide technical support to production and sales departments
  • Use problem solving skills to develop product concepts and ideas
  • Conduct market research into new machinery and equipment to support production and present business cases to senior management
  • Managing and driving small internal projects
  • Creating and improving procedures and process documents
  • Assist in investigating and addressing customer complaints
  • Ensure all work practices are in compliance with ISO9001, ISO14001 and ISO18001

 

The ideal candidate should be able to meet or exceed the following:-

Essential:-

  • Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Competent in 2D and 3D Computer aided design software preferably PTC Creo Parametric 2.0 or higher
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in industry

 

Desirable Criteria:-

  • A minimum of 2:1 Degree in Mechanical Engineering degree

  • Nesting software knowledge / experience
  • CNC software knowledge / experience
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Good knowledge of rubber, steel and polymer materials
