Business Analyst

This job is for a Business Analyst with experience in software development, who is a confident communicator and who has experience of continuous process improvement. This is an opportunity to join an award winning and extremely successful homegrown, entrepreneurial business, which is based in the heart of Belfast city centre.

My client is a leader in their sector and they are prepared to offer a competitive package to get the right Business Analyst in place. A competitive salary, pension, bonus, staff discount as well as a Belfast central location, are all on offer.

Who is the client?

My client builds insurance price comparison engines that can be fully integrated into any website. This is a local success story that has been operating out of Belfast since 2003. They employ over 50 people in Belfast and they have a software development team based in mainland Europe. This company competes at the same level as house names such as GoCompare and MoneySuperMarket. They offer an open and collaborative environment, quick decision-making and an emphasis on creating top quality products.

What is the team like?

My client has a Front End Developer and a DevOps Engineer based here in Belfast. The rest of the development and software testing team is based in Romania. This team has eighteen members. There will be some travel required to Romania but this will be kept to a minimum. My client has just hired a Head of IT based in the Belfast. This is an extremely experienced and influential individual who has been tasked to improve the system performance and deliver a higher quality development environment.

What is the aim of this job?

The Business Analyst will report directly to the Head of IT alongside the newly appointed Technical Architect. This job would suit a Business Analyst that is able to translate business requirements into high quality specs which allow Developers to get it 'right first time' every time. Ideally, you would be a BA coming from a previous Object Oriented development role who would be capable of picking up product and business knowledge as well as technologies and tools as they are used in the Company and transform them going forward. This is a massive opportunity to really put your stamp on their process.

What skills and experience are needed for this job?

You will need to be degree educated (2:1 or higher), ideally in ICT or relevant field and a minimum of 5 years' commercial experience. Ideally, this experience would have been in an insurance/financial/retail environment that is product focused. You will be an expert in determining and specifying user requirements for development projects to a very high standard while working in conjunction with business teams and developers, both in-house and offshore to create quality software and products. Experience of continuous process improvement is a must. You must have worked as a developer in the past and be familiar with Agile methodologies and their real-life implementation OR have significant experience in Web application deployment projects.

This is the job for me! What's next?

To apply for this job simply send your CV using the links provided by the 21st December. Alternatively, you can contact Gareth Stirling directly on 028 9091 8528 for a confidential discussion on this job and your career.
