A new school recruitment programme to attract qualified and newly qualified teachers in Northern Ireland to join outstanding schools and academies in the East of England has been launched this month.

Posts are offering attractive salaries, annual bonuses, career development, travel, and some even providing accommodation at significantly subsided rates.

The programme provides the opportunity for teachers from Northern Ireland to live and work in the East of England for annual fixed term periods of between 1 and 3 years, with the option to take up permanent employment at any time.

Launched by the Evolution Academy Trust, who manage seven primary and junior schools in the East Anglia region, the programme is endorsed by the Regional School Commissioner for the East of England and North East London, and the Department for Education in Northern Ireland.

The programme has been joined by a number of Multi Academy Trusts offering vacancies throughout the region.

The project is designed to provide a bridge between the two regions – East Anglian schools currently have a teacher shortage, while Northern Ireland has a significant surplus of excellent educationalists.

Tim Emmett, a director of MB Education concluded that: “this is an excellent opportunity for teachers in Northern Ireland to gain work and expand their professional experience within the context of a thriving and forward-looking Multi Academy Trust.
