We are an independent non-ministerial government department set up to ensure the effective regulation of the Electricity, Gas and Water and Sewerage industries in Northern Ireland.

Our duty is to protect the interests of Electricity, Gas and Water & Sewerage consumers with regard to price and quality of service and by promoting effective competition within these industries.

We are accountable to the Northern Ireland Assembly through financial and annual reporting obligations. The Chief Executive, Shane Lynch, leads a management team made up of Directors representing each of the key functional areas in the organisation.

The staff team includes economists, engineers, accountants, utility specialists, legal advisors and administration professionals.
