Description

Process client payroll on a monthly/weekly basis and ensure that all reports are produced promptly and accurately. Excellent opportunity to be trained as a Book-Keeper in a professional environment using the latest cloud accounting technology. Ensure that all returns are completed and submitted within the relevant time frame.

POST: Payroll & Book Keeping Assistant

REPORTS TO: Payroll & Bookkeeping Manager

OBJECTIVES: To Process Payroll on Weekly/Monthly Basis and assist in computerised bookkeeping and VAT records

LOCATION: Based at Head Office in Downpatrick

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

To process clients’ payroll on a monthly/weekly basis and ensure that clients are informed promptly and accurately of payroll details. Assist with the completion of VAT returns and clients bookkeeping requirements.  Ensure that all returns are completed and submitted within the relevant time frame.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Check payroll input from clients
  • All payments to employees recorded on Sage and meet Government requirements
  • Reconcile all payments made to staff to reports produced from Sage monthly
  • Check on line with HMRC regarding Changes to Tax codes, Student Loans etc. Check against details and apply changes to Sage
  • Input Annual Leave adjustments to Sage
  • When payroll complete, print payslips for checking. When checked send/email payslips to clients.
  • Answer all queries relating to payroll with Payroll Manager.
  • Prepare BACS Reports for payment on Pay day for client
  • Prepare close of payroll & Issue P45s to leavers
  • Ensure all Information is submitted via FPS and EPS on close of Payroll
  • Control pension contributions and pay all contributions “on line” to NEST
  • Produce and balance all year end returns.
  • Print and issue P60s
  • Ad hoc projects as required
  • Any other duties as requested by the Payroll Manager
  • Maintenance of online accounting system
  • Importing electronic data for accounting system entry
  • Routine quarterly reporting to clients via accounting software
  • VAT returns.
  • Bank transactions Reconciliation and allocation to invoice
  • Processing sales invoices & liaising with client.
  • Accounts receivable and Accounts payable reports for clients

To be considered for this role you should have:

  • At least 1 years’ experience of working within Payroll Department ideally using Sage payroll
  • Proficiency using technology;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as a team member;
  • Ability to meet deadlines and commitments;
  • Professional experience is desirable but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent including a Grade C or above in English & Maths.
